Love the contrast between the Americans’ “Apollo” and the Soviets’ “Sputnik.” You got the Americans naming their rocket after a Greek god trying to communicate the grandness and importance of this rocket. And you got the Soviets naming their rocket “fellow traveler.” Like a friend you go on an  adventure with together. This rocket is our little friend lol

Calling someone “transphobic” for misgendering someone:

- “what’s transphobia? What is a woman?”

- incites political language, i.e. bullshit debates about what transphobia is and wether trans people are real that you know they’re not gonna budge on anyways.

Calling someone a piece of shit for deadnaming someone:

- “that’s literally just their name you piece of shit” “why do you have to be such a dipshit about her she’s just a woman oh my god”

- establishes basic respect for trans people as, you know, the normal behavior and whatever bullshit they do as a violation of common decency, which is a lot more horrifying to a lot of people.

- being very casually accepting of trans people like this is not likely to be the kind of negative response they’re expecting

- being openly considered “a rude asshole” is a lot harder for people to argue themselves out of and is more likely to shut them up

- it’s a lot funnier watching someone worm their way out of being considered a piece of shit than watching someone wriggle their way out of being called transphobic
